We work with CHF 6,000–6,400 gross per month at entry, CHF 6,500–7,500 with experience and CHF 7,300–8,500 with a specialisation (ICU, ER, anaesthesia, OR) or a specialist lead role — all across 13 salaries. No. Many nurses commute from Winterthur, the Zürcher Oberland, the Limmattal, Aargau or Zug; the S-Bahn timetable covers early and late shifts comfortably. Night shifts are tighter — there a car, a parking space or a room on site matters. Before you sign, ask about staff housing, a transit-pass contribution and parking: in Zurich those visibly change what is left over.

Diploma recognition runs through the SRK (Swiss Red Cross) for the whole country — there is no separate Zurich route, and starting elsewhere gains you nothing. The SRK asks for German at B2; the recognition is then entered in NAREG, the federal health-professions register. Whether, and for how long, you may work in your profession until it is through is up to the canton.
